🌹Who Told You That About Yourself?

Sometimes the hardest voice to silence isn't somebody else's.

It's the voice you've heard so many times that it eventually became your own.

Maybe somebody told you:

You're not pretty enough.

You're too big.

You're too skinny.

You're not smart enough.

You'll never accomplish that.

Nobody wants to hear what you have to say.

You're just like the person who hurt you.

You'll never change.

And after hearing something long enough, you can start repeating it to yourself.

That's why sometimes you have to stop and ask:

Who told me that about myself?

Every Thought Isn't the Truth

Just because you think it doesn't mean it's true.

Just because somebody said it doesn't make it true.

And just because something happened to you doesn't mean it gets to define you.

You may have made mistakes.

You are not your mistake.

You may have experienced rejection.

You are not unwanted.

You may have failed at something.

You are not a failure.

You may still be figuring yourself out.

You are not lost beyond finding.

Your story is still being written.

Be Careful What You Repeat

Words have a way of planting seeds.

If you constantly tell yourself, “I can't,” eventually you stop trying.

If you constantly tell yourself, “Nobody likes me,” you begin interpreting everything as rejection.

If you constantly compare your body, accomplishments, relationships, or life to somebody else's highlight reel, you'll overlook what's beautiful about your own journey.

Sometimes the first thing that needs to change isn't your situation.

It's the conversation you're having with yourself.

Speak Differently to Yourself

What would happen if you started saying:

I am growing.

I am learning.

I am worthy of healthy love.

My voice matters.

I don't have to look like anyone else to be beautiful.

My mistakes don't cancel my future.

God created me with purpose.

You might not believe every word immediately.

Keep saying it.

Keep growing.

Keep doing the work.

Because we're not trying to build fake confidence.

We're building confidence rooted in truth.

To the Young Lady Reading This...

Before you accept another negative label, ask:

Who told me that?

Was it God?

Was it truth?

Or was it somebody speaking from their own hurt, insecurity, expectations, or limited view of who you could become?

You don't have to carry every word someone placed on you.

Some labels need to be returned.

Some opinions need to be released.

And some lies need to be replaced with truth.

You are still becoming.

You are still growing.

And, beautiful girl...

You are still blooming. 🌹

With Love,

Lady J
