🌹 Protect Your Yes

One of the most powerful words you have is yes.

Yes to an opportunity.

Yes to a relationship.

Yes to helping someone.

Yes to giving your time.

Yes to allowing someone access to your life.

That's why you have to learn to protect your yes.

Because every person, opportunity, relationship, and invitation doesn't deserve it.

You Are Allowed to Say No

Young women are often taught to be nice.

Be helpful.

Don't disappoint anybody.

Don't hurt anyone's feelings.

And kindness is important—but kindness without boundaries can become exhaustion.

You can love people and still have boundaries.

You can care about someone and still say no.

You can forgive someone and still decide they no longer get the same access to you.

You can be a good person without being available to everybody.

“No” doesn't automatically mean you're mean. Sometimes “no” means you're growing.

Pay Attention to What Costs You Peace

Not everything that gets your attention deserves your energy.

Ask yourself:

Does this relationship make me better?

Can I be myself around this person?

Do they respect my boundaries?

Do I constantly leave this environment drained?

Am I making decisions because I want to—or because I'm afraid of disappointing someone?

Those questions matter.

Your Boundaries Teach People How to Handle You

A boundary isn't a wall designed to keep everyone out.

It's a door that teaches people how to enter.

Healthy relationships respect boundaries.

Healthy friendships don't require you to constantly prove your loyalty.

Healthy love doesn't require you to lose yourself.

And anyone who only benefits from you having no boundaries may become uncomfortable when you finally establish some.

That's okay.

To the Young Lady Reading This...

Your heart is valuable.

Your time is valuable.

Your body is valuable.

Your dreams are valuable.

Your future is valuable.

And access to you is valuable.

So don't give your yes away simply because somebody asked for it.

Pray about it.

Think about it.

Pay attention.

And remember:

You don't owe everyone access to the woman you're becoming.

Protect your heart.

Protect your peace.

Protect your yes. 🌹

With Love,

Lady J
